Heather Farmer, DVM

After graduating from Ross University of Veterinary Medicine in 2006,  I completed a Neonatal ICU internship at the Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, VA.  During my internship I honed my skills in neonatal medicine, emergency treatment of colic, soft tissue injuries and post operative care for horses.

In 2006, I took an associate position in Florida and got right to work. Here I began a rewarding career in the active horse country of Central Florida.

In 2010 big and wonderful changes came into our lives, with the birth of our son Johnathan Edward Farmer.

At this point I felt it was time to start my own practice and in July of 2010 E.P.V.P. open its doors for business.

We take pride in being a full service equine practice focusing on lameness and performance of horses.  I like to focus on the horse as a whole to better their performance and health.

"Grades of Honor" and Heather Farmer

My love of horses started young with my first pony at the age of nine.  I was hooked from the start and horses have been a part of my life ever since.

As I started showing my horses, I became fascinated with how horses move and the affects it had on their performance. I have shown in both Hunters and Jumpers and have even Evented a few times. My interest in sports medicine grew as a result.

Ten years ago, we started our breeding program, Iconic Bay Equestrian.  Starting with one mare we have now grown to a full service breeding program with two exciting young stallions, many young horses, and a few competition mares.

I feel that being a rider/horse owner has enhanced my skills and abilities as a veterinarian. I understand not only your concerns, but fully understand the management aspect of raising horses.
