I began working with Dr. Heather Farmer about 9 years ago after she moved to the Orlando Area. I have a hunter Jumper barn in east orange county where we attend Greater Orlando Hunter Jumper shows, Horse Shows in the Park, A shows, Hits, WEF, etc. I own and board ponies and horses of all ages and sizes.
Heather’s first visits were not just routine shots and coggins, etc. I wanted a fresh pair of eyes involving sports medicine for my athletes. She is excellent at diagnosis and treatment from coffin joints, navicular bursas, chiropractic, to the ankles, hocks, stifle, and Si joints. I have never had a joint infection and her eye is incredible as to diagnosis. Also, if she is puzzled she doesn’t hesitate to ask fellow veterinarians or send to a clinic for a second pair of eyes.
We are fortunate to not have too many lacerations but Dr. Farmer is pretty handy with sewing and fixing or freezing wounds. We did have a spider bite that I thought was going to lose his upper lip but not with following Doc’s instructions.
I must also mention bedside manner. I have had several old equines and there comes a time when they have to cross the rainbow bridge. Day or night you can count on Dr. Farmer to be there for you and your client, whether it be a colic whose options are up or an old lame soul that needs it owner’s kindness. She is gentle and factual and I trust her implicitly when making a decision.
In my opinion, Equine Performance Veterinary Practice is the most up to date group in the area. I am very happy with their service, response time, knowledge, pricing, and kindness.
